Freelance botanical artist and botanical art instructor. Born in 1952, Michiko was given her first art lessons by her artist grandfather. While working as a Yuzen kimono artist, studied botanical art under Yoshio FUTAKUCHI and Yoai OHTA, Michiko started participating in group botanical art exhibitions and teaching botanical art. Fascinated by wild plants, indigenous to Japan, Michiko closely observes their form and captures it on paper and has won awards for both botanical art and kimono textile design.
